Kiprun Kipride Max vs Nike Vomero 18 (2026 Comparison)

Kiprun Kipride Max vs Nike Vomero 18

The Nike Vomero 18 has been one of the maximalist references for a long time, while the Kiprun Kipride Max is fairly new at Decathlon and wants to make its mark in the category. It clearly ranks with its competitors. Two rivals for comfort in training.

The Kipride Max goes with Softech+, a blend of EVA, Peba and OBC, and a nicely balanced feel that leans plush. The Vomero 18 combines two foams, ZoomX and ReactX, for a harmonious balance that also leans slightly plush, without tipping into a marshmallow feel.

Kiprun Kipride Max vs Nike Vomero 18

The lower drop on the Kipride Max protects midfoot and forefoot strikers well, but it can take some getting used to. The Vomero sits taller under the heel, with a higher drop, right at the market standard.

On responsiveness, the Kipride Max is the better of the two, and the Peba lets you pick up the pace happily all the way to tempo. The Vomero 18 is a bit heavier, by about 20 g / 0.7 oz, and that weight holds back its responsiveness.

The engineered mesh upper on the Kipride Max has plenty of padding and is very breathable, with a fairly open toe area, a drawback if you have narrow feet. The Vomero 18 uses a woven mesh that is remarkably comfortable, roomy to the point that some testers with slim feet found it too wide. Its breathability is a step below, especially around the very thick tongue.

Both deliver maximum cushioning, whatever your weight. They take you through long runs and the marathon if you put comfort ahead of performance.

Kipride Max or Vomero 18: Which Should You Choose?

For a more responsive ride, the Kipride Max comes out ahead: it is our pick for daily training.

Want the most foam under the heel and a standard drop? The Vomero 18 is still a safe bet, especially for heavier runners.
