The Adrenaline GTS 23 from the American brand Brooks are versatile shoes that promise a smooth ride to road runners.
The sole is moderately thick: 24 mm in the heel, 12 mm in the forefoot, and a 12 mm heel-to-toe drop. They offer sturdy support and are particularly suited to those with an overpronation stride. Not to mention, the rigid heel collar adds to the stability it offers.
Moreover, its airy upper makes the shoe pleasant in both summer and winter. Plus, the rubber outsole adds its grip. Different widths are available to best suit all foot sizes.
Owing to the durable material used in its making, these shoes last quite a long, which is commendable.
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 is designed for both beginners and experienced runners needing cushioning. But, they are particularly suited for runners with heel strikes and ideal for daily training and long runs at moderate paces while limiting excess movement.

Introduction
The Adrenaline GTS is one of Brooks’ flagship models.
At a time when only a few high-drop shoes are available on the market, the brand has chosen to retain a high height for this model. This new edition aims to provide comfort and reliable support for road runners and will also not disappoint those accustomed to its previous versions.
Despite the minor changes to version 22, the offer remains the same: ample cushioning, comfortable ride, and durable quality.

Cushioning

Stack height, drop, and underfoot feel
The midsole is made of DNA LOFT v2, a combination of EVA foam, rubber, and air. It’s a little softer than the previous version, making the shoe more comfortable and lighter.
Its heel height is 34 mm (officially 24 mm according to Brooks, but that’s not what we see), with 22 mm at the front. This gives a heel-to-toe drop of 12 mm, which is very significant.
Moreover, it absorbs shocks well, gives a gentle plush feel, and is comfortable to wear over all distances, from short outings to marathons.

Energy return
Its lightweight cushioning is not very responsive but offers medium protection from impact.
And while running at a good speed in these shoes is possible, they don’t offer much bounce. Furthermore, their heel is a little stiffer than the midfoot, so the transitions between heel and toe can seem a bit laborious, although they have improved since the last version of the model.
Type of pronation
The stability of the Adrenaline GTS 23 is an important feature, making it a good choice for runners who overpronate.
Foot Lockdown

Fit and sizing
The padded upper is constructed from Engineered Air Mesh technology, a fairly thin, breathable, and airy material.
Thanks to the shoe’s GuideRails support system, which features two side “bars” that provide excellent support! These bars guide the foot forward once the heel is on the ground, keeping excess movement in check, thus facilitating a smooth ride.
Plus, its simple yet secure lacing system facilitates a better shoe lockdown.
You can choose your usual size on this model, but if you’re unsure, please try them in-store first. However, generally, those with wide feet can select a “wide” or even “extra-wide” version, and those with thin feet or who like to feel tight can opt for the “narrow” version.

Men’s vs. women’s version
There are no significant differences between the men’s and women’s versions of the Adrenaline GTS 23, apart from color and size.
The men’s version weighs 10.1 oz / 286 g in size 42. And the women’s version weighs 9.1 oz / 258 g in size 40. This is a standard weight for running shoes.
Breathability and protection
The shoe lets the foot breathe properly, summer and winter alike.
Use

Specialty
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 is a pretty versatile shoe. You can use them for slow-paced daily training where you want stable support and comfort, but they can also be used for longer runs.
Other suitable scenarios

Even though these are not very responsive, you can use them for split, threshold, or fartlek training.
However, they are best worn on asphalt and well-groomed trails as they are not equipped with lugs. Thus, moving over rough and technical terrain with them might be difficult.
Also, you would need to stay cautious of mud and snow to prevent slipping.
Traction

Since the shoe features a rubber outsole, it offers a firm grip, even on wet surfaces. It can also be used on easy trails (e.g., dirt roads).
Quality and Durability
The outsole is durable enough, and the upper doesn’t tear easily either, so we can expect the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 to last quite long.

They can be worn for 435 to 560 miles if well-maintained and used in optimal conditions.
Their retail price is $140, which is quite attractive, given their excellent durability.
Carbon footprint and animal welfare
The upper of this shoe is made from 59.87% recycled materials, equivalent to just over 11 plastic bottles, and the overall composition contains no animal matter, making it a vegan pair.
Conclusion

GTS 23 is quite a versatile running shoe: you can use it for different types of training, but it’s mainly appreciated for its flexible build, comfort, stability, and lockdown.
They are ideal for those with a slight overpronation but can also suit those with a neutral stride. The high heel-to-toe drop of 12 mm makes them ideal for those with a strong heel attack as they reduce stress on the calf and Achilles heel.
So, whether you are a first-time runner or have extensive experience, you can benefit from these shoes, be it short or long runs.
