Salomon Speedcross 5 vs 6: Which One? (2026 Comparison)

Salomon Speedcross 5 vs 6

Published on: 09/26/2023

It took Salomon 3 years to finally release the 6th version of its Speedcross. In the end, the evolutions remain minor and boil down to details that are nonetheless important.

1 oz/27 g isn’t much. But it’s still a few grams lighter than the Speedcross 6.

1 mm is even less–it corresponds to the reduction in lug depth (5 mm vs. 6 for SC5). The difference is hardly noticeable, especially for runners unfamiliar with the model. However, combined with a wider ground contact surface, it ensures greater stability. The wider spacing of the lugs also ensures more efficient mud evacuation.

The new upper is softer and more supple. It also offers more room for the toes. The resulting fit enhances comfort, while providing impeccable support.

Traction is the same on both versions, that’s to say excellent!

Speedcross 5 or 6: Which One Should You Pick?

Overall, then, there are few changes, so we recommend opting for the Speedcross 5 if you can find a good deal to save money.

However, if you had trouble with the smaller size of the Speedcross 5, the extra comfort and space of the Speedcross 6 should delight you!
