Brooks Ghost 15 vs. Saucony Ride 17 (2024 Comparison)

Brooks Ghost 15 vs Saucony Ride 17

These two running shoes have very similar configurations aimed to be suitable for as many runners as possible. Or almost.

Indeed, if both shoes have a high stack (35 mm under the heel for the Ride 17 and 31 mm for the Ghost 15) and are suitable for runners with wide feet, they do not offer the same level of support and stability.

The Ride has more structure and is more stable than the Ghost. Overall, the Ride is more versatile thanks to its responsiveness and is suitable for all paces, including faster ones.

In both cases, the cushioning is relatively soft. The Ride is also comfortable with good shock absorption, but its underfoot feel is slightly firmer.

Another critical point is the heel-to-toe drop. The Ghost has a drop of 12 mm compared to 8 mm for the Ride.

Last but not least, the Brooks Ghost 15 is carbon neutral, meaning it’s more sustainable. Quite an important point nowadays, especially if you go through 2 or 3 pairs of running shoes every year.

Ghost or Ride: which one to choose?

Overall, the Saucony Ride was rated higher by our reviewers. If in doubt, we recommend you choose this one because it’s more stable and responsive if you plan to do speed workouts.

Also, Ghost’s 12-mm drop is relatively high and most brands are going for lower drops these days (including Asics). 8 mm is more standard, especially if you are a beginner runner.

The only real reason to choose the Ghost over the Ride is if you’re looking for a comfortable shoe for easy recovery-type runs with soft cushioning.
